  • Big Changes at Karvel Digital
Pinned tweet from twitter.com/kronda

I’ve been pretty open about that fact that 2015 was a tough year for Karvel Digital and I learned a lot of hard and expensive lessons.

I’ve been taking those lessons and turning them into action. Thinking about what I’m good at, where I want to put our time and energy and how we can best help you–yes you, reading this–knock it out of the park when it comes to marketing and managing your business online.

As a result, I’ve restructured a lot of things about how we work with clients and this post is designed to help current and potential clients decide if we’re a good fit to work together. My goal is to empower you to do as much or as little as you want when it comes to managing your online marketing.

Dedicated Support

In July of 2015, I hired a dedicated support team to manage updates and security. They are rock stars. They keep things humming smoothly and monitor sites constantly for issues. If hackers start snooping around or the site goes down because of hosting issues, we know immediately and can take steps to correct any issues we have control over.

But the most awesome part is that they will also take care of all those little tasks that you think you’ll get to but never do. Anything that takes 30 minutes or less, you can send off to our dedicated support email address and the team will take care of it. We strive to handle most request within 1 business day and usually much faster.

I’m a trained developer and I still experience untold delight from being able to send an email and cross something off my todo list that may have been sitting there for months waiting for me to ‘get around to it’.

If you have a similar wish list of little changes for your website that you’ve been too busy, or too afraid to do, you too can experience the joy of delegation. How many tasks can you send? AS MANY AS YOU WANT. (Really).

Client Care Plans

As of 2016, I only work with clients through projects or client care plans.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past year, it’s that being proactive is much more valuable than being reactive. Websites are never ‘done,’ and must be constantly updated, given new content and improved if you really want them to work for you.

If you ignore your website until something is wrong with it, you are throwing money down the drain. You’ll pay a premium finding someone willing to take on your emergency, and more importantly, you’ll lose out on the value your website could provide if you treated it like the serious marketing asset that it can become.

Website emergencies are generally the result of poor planning and lack of maintenance and can largely be avoided. If you’re actively using your website, you can do things like plan an awesome digital marketing strategy in time for that conference or speaking engagement you know is coming up in three months.

You can read more about client care plans here.

New Knowledge Base

I’ve created a Knowledge Base for answering frequently asked questions.

Part of my mission is to always empower you to get things done, with or without calling your developer. There are many day to day website management tasks that don’t require a developer and can be handled by someone on your staff or a virtual assistant. There are also questions that come up when you’re doing a task that comes up infrequently and just need to refresh your memory.

I want you to have access to the information you need, when you need it. We’ll keep adding new articles and clients are welcome and encouraged to request articles that would be most useful for you.

Video User Manual

All clients on any level of care plan get access to our Video User Manual which adds over 100 quick WordPress tutorials to your WordPress Dashboard, where they are easily accessible when you need them.

YouTube Channel

We've been utilizing more video as a great educational tool. If you want to keep up on new video tutorials and advice, you can subscribe to the Karvel Digital YouTube Channel.

Monthly Strategy Calls

Starting in April of 2016, all clients will have access to monthly strategy calls. For Maintenance clients, a group coaching call will be offered at 11:00am PST on the last Thursday of the month via video conference. I’ll offer advice on that month’s topic and answer questions about any challenges you have. If you can’t make the call, you can send in questions ahead of time and watch the recording later.

Clients on higher level care plans will have access to a one-on-one strategy call each month.

Time Blocks

What if you’re on a care plan but you need work that isn’t covered by unlimited small tasks or included development time? You can purchase TimeBlocks, in 5-hour increments, to be used however you wish. Any unused time is valid for six months from the date of purchase. If you’re a current client and need to purchase a TimeBlock, contact us.

Websites That Work

Karvel Digital is working on our first product! We realize, not everyone has thousands of dollars to spend on a professionally designed and developed website. Websites That Work is a 6-week course, currently in production, that will guide small business owners through a DIY process for creating a successful website without breaking the bank. Check out the funding campaign or sign up to be notified when the course launches.
