Are websites dead?

I've noticed a common trend in a many of my professional business circles of people relying on their social media accounts as their primary web presence. I'm sure this happens because it's easy and there's a built-in audience that you can leverage. But it's also a good way to end up losing your business like Little Things did when Facebook changed their algorithm.
